Elsternwick Park Oval revamp
Posted on August 29, 2018 in ProjectsYellow Box Computing recently completed a CAD survey and design, as well as a CAD irrigation design for the Elsternwick Park Oval. This project was in partnership with the Victorian Government, the Victorian Amateur Football Association, AFL and Old Melburnians Football Club.
The project consisted of the construction of a new pavilion and reconstruction of the adjoining oval. The oval was constructed as a domed shaped sand based oval, with a drainage and irrigation system overlaid with turf sod. The central turf pitch and northern turf practice facility were removed, with only the central turf pitch being reinstated. The ground now has the ability to cater for many turf based sports all year round.
Whether it’s cricket or football, this project has given the community and sportspeople the ability to enjoy the facilities in any season, reinstating the Elsternwick Park Oval as a hub for sporting activity and community involvement.
Our detailed plans and modelling allowed the construction company to carry out this project efficiently, with outstanding results. The irrigation and drainage system means that the surface will continue to be playable during downpours and gives the groundsmen a lot more options with their turf care.
